Dad may be the 'fun' one, but sometimes only a mum will do
Sometimes, I think I am married to the invisible man. Let me be clear that this is no reflection on my husband, but on findings based on close observation of my children. Because when it comes to fulfilling their high level of demands, they just don't seem to see him.
He could stand there, blocking their way, dressed as Spongebob Squarepants, playing a kazoo, holding an enormous jug of Mi Wadi and shouting: 'I've got the drinks!' and they'd still look through him, waving their empty cups at me for a refill.
This week, the Growing Up In Ireland report revealed that out of 7,400 13-year-olds surveyed, the majority felt that while Dad did more 'fun things', it was Mum who was on hand for the serious stuff.
