Culture of entitlement is national embarrassment
The latest revelations on the disgraceful culture of top-ups in the Central Remedial Clinic and other HSE-related bodies is a reminder of how we do things in Ireland.
Or rather don't do things, and muddle on with a sense of entitlement at the top and a lack of full accountability and efficiency at the core of the system.
The top-ups are another symptom of the sense of entitlement among so many people who work in, or for, the public service. They seem to have an enormous belief in their self-worth, even though there is no effective way for work performances to be assessed.
