Creating real jobs must be our priority
The same effort that was put into restoring our finances has to be put into employment, writes Willie O'Dea
ALTHOUGH you would not think it from the ongoing opinion polls, this Government is getting the major decisions for fixing our economy right.
Over the last year and a half, the Cabinet has taken decisive actions to bring this country back from the brink of economic ruin. In the last Budget, the Government made savings of €4bn through the imposition of tough and necessary controls on all areas of government expenditure.
To shirk from this action would have meant Ireland going the way of Greece. Internationally, Ireland is held up as an example of a country that is facing up to its economic difficulties.
