Cowen running out of chances to reinvent himself

A SLIGHTLY bemused media filed into the press centre in Government Buildings just before 5pm yesterday for a press conference with the Taoiseach.
The cause of the bemusement wasn't the event itself, but the fact that it was the second time in one day that Brian Cowen had invited the members of the Fourth Estate to ask him questions.
Earlier in the day, he -- along with the Tanaiste Mary Coughlan and the Justice Minister Dermot Ahern -- had launched a new strategy to woo more foreign students to Ireland, and then a scant five hours later he was back on the same podium to discuss his afternoon pow-wow with the heads of various state agencies involved in employment and job creation.
