Cowen beat me up when I was 12, so what?
A fellow pupil of the Taoiseach, Terence Cosgrave recalls a tough, passionate young man who could take punishment, both on and off the pitch
BRIAN Cowen beat the living daylights out of me when I was 12. And I don't blame him for it or have the slightest bit of bitterness towards him. And I'd suggest that would be the most appropriate reaction for Fianna Fail and the Irish people to take following his recent hoarseness. To do anything else would be like beating Pavlov's dog for salivating.
Let's take a trip back in time to when the current Taoiseach was doing his Leaving Certificate, and he was my prefect in Cistercian College, Roscrea.
One day, in a bad mood, he beat me for a reason not apparent to me and another sixth year was forced to intervene to prevent serious damage being done.
