Could British-style rioting happen here?

Could the riots that raged through London and other British cities this week also happen here? History suggests not.
The British, for all their democratic trappings and cool pragmatism, have a long tradition of civil unrest stretching from the Peasants' Revolt in the 14th century to the poll tax riots which helped bring down Margaret Thatcher in the 1990s.
In the Republic we have no similar tradition at any point in our past -- and there is simply no event in Irish history that comes even close to the most bloody British riots.
