STACEY Keibler. Six months ago you almost certainly hadn’t heard of her but now – depending on how closely you follow the dating life of one George Clooney, of course – you probably recognise the Amazonian beauty. For Keibler, oh she of the tousled blonde mane and endless legs, is the latest in a long line of Clooney girlfriends. It’s unlikely to last. George has form when it comes to being marriage-shy but at least she’ll probably be the one at his side to celebrate if he picks up an Oscar for Best Actor in ‘The Descendants’.
And, what’s interesting about George, is that he has also has form when it comes to dating women who, if not exactly nonentities, are hardly A-listers. That soon changes when they hitch their wagons to the star but prior to coupling up with George, Keibler, a 31-year-old former WWE wrestler wasn’t a household name. Now women’s magazines are devoting pages to her outfits (she’s wears Armani and she used to look like she bought all her clothes in Gap) and her appearance fees to open clubs and parties. have risen from $10,000 to $25,000 according to a US paper. With George on her arm and her currency rising, it’s no wonder that she has a permanent grin on her face.
But she would do well to exercise some caution, and not just because she’s probably never going to get him down the aisle. If she has two brain cells to rub together, she’ll have worked that one out already. It’s just that once George ends the relationship, she will discover that solo, the world really isn’t that interested in her. It’s happened with his other girlfriends. British model and presenter Lisa Snowdon has carved out a fairly respectable career but more than anything else, she’s likely to be referred to as ‘George Clooney’s ex’, even though they broke up in 2005.
Celine Balitran was a French waitress, when Clooney met her in Paris and whisked her away to a new life in LA. Their relationship lasted two years lasted two years. When they split she appeared on the French version of ‘Celebrity Farm’ (called La Ferme Celebrité, of course), then quietly disappeared. Sara Larson was a Vegas cocktail waitress when she caught Clooney’s eye and jacked it in to move to LA to be with him. Back then in 2008, she was called an ‘It Girl’ by Harper’s Bazaar and signed up with a model agency.
Now she’s living in New York, back waiting tables and hates anyone remembering her association with him. Elisabetta Canalis? Few outside Italy had heard of the actress prior to her Clooney hook-up. Two years with George saw her stock rise. Post George, she appeared on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in the US, got booted off and rarely makes any headlines. Last seen, she was dating Steve-O from ‘Jackass’, which has to be a bit of comedown.
One would presume that Clooney, who could have his pick of women might go for other A-listers, but perhaps there’s only room for one celebrity in any relationship. Maybe he finds partnering up with women whose careers don’t threaten his to be easier. It doesn’t really matter – Stacey should just be aware that she has ‘best by’ date; enjoy her time in the limelight and remember that it’s not for nothing George Clooney is called the ‘Hexiest Man Alive’.
