Brendan O'Connor: Never pick a fight with an OAP

YOU have to wonder what part of 'don't annoy the old people' this Government doesn't get.
There is a conventional wisdom among parents of young children that you never get into a battle of wills with a toddler. Because while you have 100 other things you need to do, the child has nowhere else to go or nothing else to do. They are completely focussed on whatever the minor battle is and so they will always win.
You could say the same for the pensioners. I'm not saying they don't have a lot on but let's face it, they have more time and energy to focus on any slight by the Government than the Government does. So ultimately, by sheer tenacity and focus, they will win.
