THERE was another special radio moment on Newstalk's Off the Ball the other night when one of the presenters, Ciaran Murphy, made a brief assessment of the All-Ireland Ladies Gaelic Football final.
He said it was quite entertaining and free-flowing, but he challenged those who were suggesting that the quality of the football was anything like the quality of the male equivalent.
Observing that "the skill set is not there", he also dissented from the view that the ladies final should replace the minor final as the opening attraction on All-Ireland day, pointing out that this year's minor final was a couple of levels above the ladies' game.
