Sunday February 27 2011. The RTE radio centre was a hive of activity. At the production desk outside the studio an intimidating array of senior executives were monitoring proceedings.

Elections are the lifeblood of media organisations. Everybody wants to be involved – nobody wants to go home.

Behind the microphones leading the analysis of General Election 2011 were RTE’S ace political journalists Sean O’Rourke and Rachel English. Pollster Sean Donnelly was crunching the numbers while prolific blogger Suzy Byrne was keeping listeners up to date with the latest developments on Twitter and social media.
