Bar-stool economics are back in fashion as punters take long view

THERE were nosy neighbours, shiny-suited speculators, bargain hunters and even the odd bemused tourist, all crammed into the dimly lit bar of the famous Dublin watering hole Doheny and Nesbitt's from noon yesterday.
God love any regular hoping for a quiet pint of plain.
Few of the irregulars appeared to be bidding, but all were keeping a close eye on the live feed on the television screen as the jumbo auction of distressed property got under way just up the road.
