Back in the black -- but grey skies on horizon guarantee turbulence

Aer Lingus is back in the black -- for now, at least. Christoph Mueller has had to battle to push through major cost savings at the airline only to see the benefits effectively evaporate as airport charges at Dublin and Heathrow rise.
At Dublin Airport, the price hikes have been implemented after the Commission for Aviation Regulation was instructed to give the go-ahead for them by former Transport Minister Noel Dempsey.
Those increases will help the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) finance a massive infrastructure plan that includes T2, but they rankle with carriers who have seen the number of passengers using the airport fall sharply.
