At long last there are reasons to feel hopeful
Amid the bad news of the past week, there are reasons to believe we've turned a corner, writes Carol Hunt
Rarely, if ever, in the space of my (ahem) relatively short life have I been accused of being a "glass-half-full" type of person. On the contrary, for many years I would have taken the opposite and equally subjective view. Now, I like to take a practical stance and simply state that the glass in question is twice as big as it needs to be.
It's still comfortingly contrary, it never fails to annoy those dastardly Pollyannas -- many of whom were responsible for the quandary we now find ourselves in -- and it states a fact, rather than a biased opinion.
Recently, it's been getting harder and harder for the "glass-half-full" folk to put a glossy spin on our situation.
