THERE are two things that RTE's senior management must have ready to announce in advance of the conclusion of the investigation into the Fr Reynolds libel -- the rebranding of 'Prime Time' and the axing of 'The Frontline'.

Twittergate apart, 'The Frontline' has stood out like a sore thumb in the station's current affairs stable.

I have to admit I don't watch the programme each week, but when I do it seems an exercise in bear-baiting. It is surprising that politicians -- be they government or opposition -- keep turning up on it. On the corridors of Leinster House, the deputies (never shy about public appearances) have expressed a particular wariness about 'The Frontline' for some time.
