We sat around the kitchen table yesterday pondering what in the name of God could happen next in the presidential election. It's still weeks away to the close of nominations but this story has already been full of so many twists and turns -- from paedophilia to the state of Gay Byrne's pension.
Our chat was just minutes after Gaybo had been on Radio One explaining that he did not have the "stomach" to go forward, and had been pestered to death by the media.
"I know what will happen now," offered a friend. "Miriam (O'Callaghan) will be forced to go forward on the basis that it is her national duty to do so, especially given the fact that the public seem so keen on having an RTE presenter."
