Ailish O’Hora: Dell announcement shows business costs are falling

News that computer giant Dell is hiring high-end technology recruits should be taken as very good news – and not just because it’s a job creation story at a time when unemployment is running at record highs.
One of the main reasons the company pulled its manufacturing facility out of Limerick two years ago, with the loss of hundreds of jobs to the cheaper location of Lodz, Poland, was the high cost of doing business at the time.
But the announcement today of 150 new technology jobs by Dell in Dublin and the mid-west in cloud computing is proof-positive that these costs are falling.
