THE Taoiseach was wielding a pair of very sharp scissors, but for once it wasn't government spending he was cutting to shreds.
And though AIB's name featured prominently on the ribbon he was chopping to open the AIB Tullamore National Livestock Show, as chief sponsors the bank didn't have to worry he'd turn around and give them yet another haircut.
Indeed, all the political and economic heads present appeared to call a truce as glorious sunshine attracted a record 60,000-plus crowd to the event that has been dubbed "the Olympics of Irish farming".
