Adams needs to import Northern pragmatism -- and be less smug

What is it about Gerry Adams and his constant insistence on the cupla focail that just seems so bloody smug? Possibly it's that when the Sinn Fein leader is speaking as Gaeilge he manages to make it sound like an affectation, rather than something that comes naturally.
My own linguistic limitations mean I'm not in a position to judge the quality of Gerry's blas, but it's just one of the things to add to the small but significant list of things that manage to irritate about the new poll-topping TD for Louth.
When you're observing the new Dail, two of the things that remain difficult to adjust to are the depleted ranks of Fianna Fail and how the Sinn Fein ones have swollen.
