A vision for Ireland is badly needed

Daniel McConnell speaks to five high-profile figures from across the political, financial, economic and industrial fields to get their view.

Amid growing international scepticism last week about Ireland's recovery, and a rise in the cost of borrowing, there is a need for a real vision of how the country's salvation will be achieved.

Today five leading figures from the worlds of business, economics, politics and banking offer their view of how that recovery will be achieved.

Tax increases, stimulus packages, slashing of government spending, renewed confidence and proper credit for small businesses are among the ideas put forward -- but most feel that Ireland won't be out of the woods for another 18 months.
