A State of terminal decline
Cowen finally cuts ribbon on tomb of Celtic Tiger
Could the timing possibly have been any more unfortunate? Could any more spanners hit the already-jammed up works? If it was raining consomme soup, would Brian Cowen be standing outside with chopsticks?
The gala opening of the big shiny Terminal 2 in Dublin Airport should've been a cheery carnival of craic and self-congratulation.
It's gleaming and light-filled and one could safely eat one's chips right off the pristine floor. And no doubt, when the first hole was dug in October 2007, it was intended to be a soaring, optimistic, extravagant temple. A cathedral to our sacred animal god, the Celtic Tiger.
