LAST week's Red C poll shows that David Norris still retains an extraordinary hold on Irish popular affections.
Four out of every 10 citizens would have given him their vote for the Presidency.
The poll suggests that there is a yawning gap between the public Puritanism that ended his campaign and the private calculations of voters.
