A search will resume today off the coast of Mayo for a young man who disappeared while baiting lobster pots.
Daniel Doherty (23), from Belmullet, has been missing since Friday and is now feared drowned.
Locals turned out in huge numbers yesterday to comb a rugged stretch of the shoreline, concentrating on an area near Benwee Head in the Broad- haven Bay.
It is believed that Mr Doherty got into difficulty while he was baiting lobster pots aboard his 30 foot half-decker, Carra Rose.
The empty vessel, with its lights on, was found on its side at a beach close to Benwee Head shortly before 9pm on Friday.
Over the weekend, a Shannon-based coastguard helicopter, along with RNLI lifeboats from Ballyglass and Achill, were involved in a search. They were joined by local fishing boats.
Gerry Coyle, who is a member of Mayo County Council, yesterday described Mr Doherty as "extremely industrious".
He added: "For a time, Daniel was a member of our boxing club in Geesala.
"He is very popular, a thorough gentleman."
