Young swan put down after act of extreme cruelty

WARNING - This article contains images which some readers may find disturbing - A young swan suffered horrific injuries on Monday night after ingesting fireworks concealed in a piece of bread.
The Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) said the bird’s beak was blown off and its tongue was shredded in the incident which happened at the Stardust Memorial Park, Coolock, Dublin.
The animal was later humanely put down by a vet.
