Woman's body found on beach

A post-mortem examination will be carried out today on the body of a woman that was discovered washed up on a beach yesterday.
Gardai are investigating whether the remains found on a Co Clare beach are those of a married mother of two from Bruff, Co Limerick who has been missing since November 15. The body was found at Haugh's Strand between Doonaha and Carrigaholt in west Clare shortly before 4.30pm.
While the body had not been identified last night, it is understood to be that of Catherine Fitzpatrick who was reported missing after she failed to return home from a walk in Ballybunion.
