An Cappagh Nua in Finglas where Alan McNally was murdered

Tuesday February 07 2012

DETECTIVES investigating the murder of drug dealer Alan McNally have arrested a woman.

The 47-year-old was detained during a planned raid on a house in Finglas, north Dublin, this morning.

The Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Organised Crime Unit, the Divisional Search Team and the Garda Dog Unit were all involved in the operation.

The woman is being questioned at Finglas Garda Station under the Criminal Justice Act. She can be held for up to seven days.

A related search is continuing on waste ground at St Margarets, in north Co Dublin.

McNally, 36, died after being shot several times in the head as he drank in the Cappagh Nua pub, in Finglas, shortly after 1am last Thursday.

The father of three was the brother of Graham McNally, who was murdered about a mile from the pub in January 2009 after a suspected row with major drug trafficking associate Eamon Dunne, himself the victim of a gangland execution.

During the latest gun attack, the killer's accomplice stood guard outside the door of the pub in Barry Road, wearing a mask similar to that used in the film Scream.
