Wife of TV chef Neven Maguire awaits scan results
WIFE of TV chef Neven Maguire will undergo a scan today to determine whether she can leave hospital after having a heart scare just after giving birth, writes Paddy Clancy.
An echocardiogram examination will be carried out to confirm how well Amelda has recovered from her illness, which struck a few days after she gave birth to the couple's first children, twins Connor and Lucia.
The twins were born by caesarean in Sligo General Hospital on February 8, a week earlier than planned because of unexpected high blood pressure.
However, Amelda became ill in the hospital with cardiomyopathy -- a condition where the heart has become enlarged and its muscle does not pump as well as normal. "She was so weak . . . I got scared," said Neven: "But right now everything is all positive."
