Transport chaos for planes, trains and automobiles

AIRPORTS: Flights from Dublin Airport were suspended for much of the day, but it reopened at 6.40pm. Shannon and Cork airports were operating as normal, but most regional airports were closed. Further information is at www.daa.ie and from individual airlines.

RAIL: Delays of up to an hour on some intercity services because of freezing points. DART and Commuter trains were running, with some delays particularly after fresh falls of snow. Iarnrod Eireann is at www.irishrail.ie, www.twitter.com/irishrail or at 1850 366 222.

LUAS: Red line operating but Connolly stop closed. Delays on the Green line between Sandyford and Brides Glen. Services between St Stephen's Green and Sandyford suspended yesterday afternoon because of technical issues. Information at www.luas.ie and 1800 300 604.

INTERCITY/REGIONAL BUSES: Most services running but with delays. Among the suspended routes are services in parts of Wexford, Kilkenny, Cork, Cavan, Offaly, Kildare, Louth and Monaghan. Check www.buseireann.ie or local travel centres.

School buses: Disruptions because schools are closed and secondary roads dangerous.

DUBLIN BUS: Service closed down at 9pm last night. All routes were subject to diversions and changes during the day, with some services cancelled. Further information at www.dublinbus.ie or 01 873 4222 (5am - 8pm).

PORTS: Dublin Port and others are operational. Ferries are running to schedule.

ROADS: Main routes remain open but secondary roads remain dangerous. The National Roads Authority website (www.nra.ie/RoadWeatherInformation) has real-time information on road conditions, while many local authorities publish lists of roads to be gritted on the web.
