Textbook revolution on way

Friday February 10 2012

SCHOOLBOOKS could soon be a thing of the past. Technology giant Microsoft has teamed up with publisher CJ Fallon to use 'cloud computing' to deliver textbooks on a computer.

The partnership, which will be in place for the next school year, will allow students to download books to their laptop or iPad.

Schools will be able to access specific books through a licensing system.

Microsoft claims parents could save up to 25pc of the cost of books.

Cloud computing sees information stored on the internet rather than on a local server.
