Suits you, sir Get the Lidl look for €27.99

THEY'LL be all over it like a cheap suit.

A discount supermarket has entered the world of fashion, offering a men's suit for just €27.99.

On sale for the first time today, retail experts say it's the cheapest two-piece ever sold in Irish shops.

And after the harshest Budget in years, men could be rushing to get one to go with their newly pressed hairshirts.

Supermarket discounter Lidl is selling the suit (pictured left) in its stores from today and stocks are expected to run out fast.

The offer, already dubbed the "Lidl Look", has even caught the eye of eminent tailor Louis Copeland who said "you can't go wrong at that price".

The chain says the suit, available in plain or pinstripe, is a smart, two button number.

Lidl says it's ideal for daily wear with a notch lapel and four-button cuff while the trousers are single pleat with hook and bar and button fastening.

It is unclear how many suits will be sold in Lidl's stores and the chain did not return calls yesterday but the price is significantly cheaper than its rivals' creations.

The €27.99 price compares with Dunnes cheapest suit priced at €60 and a €45 offering from Penneys. Marks and Spencer's cheapest suit is priced at around €100.

Tailor Louis Copeland, whose most popular suit the Canali sells from €850, had some praise yesterday for the €27.99 "Lidl Look", saying the offering is perfect for "fellas starting their first jobs".
