Special day for Chinese gardai
Chinese nationals Garda Dong Dong Zheng and Garda Tao 'Jimmy' Yu were on duty at Dublin Castle during the visit of Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping to the capital.
The two young guards are among 18 Chinese nationals who have joined An Garda Siochana since 2006, along with seven Poles, two Romanians, one Greek, one South African, one Dane and five Americans.
But despite their ethnic ties with the vice president, the officers just happened to be rostered for duty on the same day as the visit, a garda spokesman said.
