Shoppers still being ripped off -- even in the sales

By Aideen Sheehan Consumer Correspondent

Saturday January 17 2009

IRISH shoppers are being ripped off even when they think they're getting a bargain.

Our survey shows that even when stores claim to have made heavy discounts, Irish sale prices are often dearer than the original selling price in the UK.

For example an Argos sofa, cut from €1199 to €449, is still 30pc more expensive than its undiscounted price in Britain.
