A CHEQUE for €15m was finally picked up at National Lottery headquarters yesterday almost three weeks after the numbers came up in the Euromillions draw.

But the identity of the winners is still unknown and puzzling people in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary, where the ticket was bought on July 4.

Paula McEvoy, Public Relations manager for the National Lottery, said: "A family group of two people turned up and collected their prize this morning. We are very happy Ireland has won another Euromillions and very happy for the town of Carrick-on-Suir."

"We were always confident the money would be collected after all the publicity the win got. Ireland has been very lucky in the Euromillions and this is the second big win," she added.

Although there have been many rumours surrounding the identity of the secret winner in Carrick-on-Suir and the surrounding area, the duo's identity may now never be known as it is their wish to remain anonymous.

The lucky duo owe their new found fortune to a €9 'quick pick' ticket bought in Abbey Stores, Carrick-Beg, Carrick-on-Suir, earlier in the month.
