RIRA suspect questioned over woman's death
Monday October 08 2007
A SUSPECTED member of the Real IRA who was previously convicted of serious criminal offences was last night being questioned after the body of a young woman was discovered in Dublin.
At around 10am yesterday, the 27-year-old retail assistant was found dead in the Anna Livia Apartment block in the Oaklee Housing Trust flat complex in James's Street in Dublin 8.
It appeared she may have been strangled to death.
The 32-year-old man was detained by gardai after they made the grim find in the apartment.
Last night he was being held for questioning at Kilmainham Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Under the act, he can be held for 12 hours with an extension of another 12 hours being allowed if needed.
The man is believed to be known to gardai and is suspected of having associations with dissident republican groups.
He was previously convicted of serious criminal offences and served a lengthy jail term.
The scene of the apartment was immediately cordoned off by gardai from early Sunday morning.
The body of the woman, who has yet to be named by gardai, remained at the scene as the State Pathologist's office was informed.
Post mortems were expected to be carried out at the Dublin City Morgue this morning.
Tourists who were visiting the nearby Guinness Brewery were oblivious to the death close-by.
Most locals were also unaware of anything untoward as the apartment block in the complex was tucked away from the passing traffic on James's Street.
