Rainbow a recipe for disaster - Ahern

WITH his back to the wall, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern tried to scare voters off the alternative government yesterday by claiming that the would-be coalition partners were a "recipe for disaster".
Launching his strongest attack so far on the possible Rainbow Government, Mr Ahern said voters must not sleepwalk into electing the inexperienced parties of Fine Gael, Labour and the Greens.
"When I look at the Opposition, I see recipes for disaster all over the place. I just hope that we don't sleepwalk into making a very fundamental mistake like giving an inexperienced Opposition an opportunity to reverse this country." And he warned Enda Kenny that he is in for a reality check if he becomes Taoiseach.
Difficult
"I think Enda Kenny said the other day it would be easier being Taoiseach than leader of the Opposition. He needs to grow up . . . it is a difficulty being Taoiseach. It is a difficult job being ministers."
Mr Ahern said the country was "fabulously strong" at the moment and he wanted to build on that.
The Taoiseach was speaking at the launch of Fianna Fail's arts document in a dance studio in the heart of his Dublin Central constituency.
