Rain forecast won't dampen Croker spirits

GET out there and make the most of it -- the Indian summer is about to vanish off into the sunset.

The beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures will not survive the weekend and Met Eireann forecaster Vincent O'Shea urged people to enjoy the fine weather while it lasts.

After a week that saw the mercury climb into the mid-20s, today will bring rain or showers in most places.

Those on the east coast can expect to wake to blue skies and warm, dry weather today but the rain will already be making its way from the west.

And as Leinster and the capital get a drenching in the late afternoon, those in the west can look forward to another fine evening.

Mr O'Shea said he was "90pc certain" it would remain dry for the All-Ireland final in Croke Park tomorrow.

"All the signs are that it will be cloudy but mild and humid on Sunday and it should stay dry for the match," he said.

The hurlers on the pitch can expect a brisk breeze from the south-east.

By tomorrow evening, a heavier band of rain will make its way across the country from the west and we can expect heavy showers tomorrow night and into Monday morning.
