Post mortem reveals asphyxia and gun shots as causes of death in Carlow murder-suicide

CARLOW farmer Michael Jordan died of asphyxia while his brother-in-law George died of a number of gunshot wounds, post mortem results have found.
Michael Jordan (51) was found in an outhouse on his farm, which is beside the farm of George Rothwell, his brother in law.
A post mortem examination on the body of Mr Rothwell, (71) which was found in his farmhouse near Bagnelstown, found he had been shot a number of times.
He was found at his home, Ballycormac House, by firemen who were called to a fire at his hay barns. Mr Jordan was found dead two hours later in a shed on his neighbouring farm. Foul play is not suspected.
Mr Rothwell’s legally held shotgun was found beside his body in the living room area of his house.
