Police hunt robber armed with axe

A man armed with an axe has robbed a fast-food outlet in Newtownards, police have said.

The man threatened a member of staff at the business at Movilla Road shortly before 11.15pm last night.

He then escaped with a sum of money.

He is described as being aged in his 20s, of heavy build and he was wearing a jacket, jeans, and had a hat covering his face.

The member of staff was not injured in the incident.

Detectives have appealed for information.
