Pedestrian is killed walking on the road in Cavan

A MAN in his sixties has been killed in a road traffic collision in Cavan.

The accident happened when the man was struck by a car as he was walking on the N3 at Lavey Stradone, Cavan at 7.45pm last night.

The pedestrian, who has not yet been named, was seriously injured and brought to Cavan Regional Hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The driver of the car was not hurt in the accident.

The road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.
