Thursday September 02 2010

A MAN had to undergo surgery last night after he was found collapsed on the street with stab wounds.

The victim, believed to be Polish, received a number of stab wounds, including one to the neck.

The attack happened in an apartment close to the shops in Tyrrelstown, Co Dublin, at about 5pm yesterday. The injured man managed to stagger out of the apartment and made his way towards nearby shops where he collapsed from his injuries.

Locals raised the alarm and the badly injured man was rushed by fire brigade ambulance to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he later underwent surgery.

Gardai are still trying to pinpoint the circumstances leading up to the attack. They established two crime scenes, outside the shops and the apartment where the attack took place. As yet, no one has been arrested.
