Man in court over €204,000 ATM raid
Wednesday December 02 2009
A man is to appear in court this morning in connection with a €204,000 ATM raid on a shop and garage in Co Wexford last July.
He is one of 16 suspects arrested by gardai in the past week as a result of a planned investigation into the activities of criminals responsible for a spate of robberies, including ATM raids.
Spearheaded by gardai from the southeast, the operation resulted in arrests in west Dublin and counties Wexford, Carlow and Kilkenny.
Three men detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act were released from custody last night.

A woman, however, was still being questioned by detectives while another man, from Bunclody, Co Wexford, is to be taken before a special sitting of Enniscorthy District Court, sitting in Wexford town, this morning.
The man is facing theft and criminal damage charges in relation to an incident in which a digger was used to demolish a wall during a raid on an ATM machine in Enniscorthy in July.
Files are being prepared for the DPP on those released from custody without charge. Gardai seized a large amount of documentation during searches of 27 homes and the Criminal Assets Bureau has frozen about €30,000 in cash lodged in bank accounts.
Local officers were backed up by national units in the nationwide investigation of a number of ATM raids around the country.
Forensic tests are being completed on a number of items seized during the garda searches.
