Limerick gun murder case is struck out
Thursday January 18 2007
Gary Campion was charged with killing 'Fat' Frankie Ryan (21) on last September 17 in Limerick.
Judge Tom O'Donnell at Limerick District Court made his ruling after the book of evidence was not presented to the defendant.
Last week, Judge O'Donnell expressed concerns over the delay in completing the book of evidence.
The court was told yesterday that the delay was because of the current heavy workload at the local State solicitor's office.
Peter Madden, representing Mr Campion, told the judge he had not been informed that the book of evidence would not be ready.
The court heard Mr Campion (23), of Pineview Gardens, Moyross, first appeared in court on September 24 last and that he has been in custody since.
Frankie Ryan died after he was shot twice in the head as he sat in a car in the Delmege Park estate.
Mr Campion remains in custody on an unrelated matter.
