It's a family affair as Colin celebrates brother's marriage

By Alison Bray

Monday December 28 2009

HOLLYWOOD hunk Colin Farrell brought his five-year-old son James to a family knees-up at Dublin's Krystle nightclub last night to celebrate the recent wedding of his gay brother Eamon Farrell and artist Stephen Mannion.

The A-list star was his brother's best man at the ceremony in Vancouver, Canada, last summer and was among family and friends who braved the cold last night to celebrate the couple's nuptials in their home town.

Also attending the party was Colin's father Eamon Sr, his mother Rita and sisters Claudine and Catherine.

Other high profile party-goers included his close friend, the former Renards nightclub owner Robbie Fox and Maura Ryan, the socialite and ex-wife of 2FM radio presenter Gerry Ryan.

The couple's decision to travel abroad to get married resulted from the Irish Government's reluctance to introduce same-sex marriages, opting instead for the Civil Partnership Bill, which Dail deputies voted in favour of this month.

"We have to get married abroad," Eamon said at the time.

"It's absolutely terrible. We have to go somewhere legal, which narrows it down to about five countries.

"Who wants a civil union? It's just so legal. I want to be able to get married."
