The Louis Fitzgerald Group is proud to announce that its four-star hotel, the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, is officially Ireland's 'Best-Value Hotel' after taking the gong at the National Hospitality Awards 2010.

To celebrate the award, the Louis Fitzgerald Group is launching its winter package of €55 on a room-only basis until the end of February 2011. "The award is a testament to the high standard of service and great value we offer consumers."

Family charity benefits from Messiah

One Family, the support organisation for one-parent families, is delighted to announce that it has been chosen as the benefiting charity for this year's performances of Handel's Messiah by the Culwick Choral Society.

With performances at 8pm on December 1 and 2 at St Patrick's Cathedral, all proceeds will go to the askonefamily helpline for one-parent families. Tickets €30.

Split your ciders laughing at festival

The Bulmers Comedy Festival takes place at O'Keeffe's of Clonmel, Co Tipperary, from November 18 to 21, featuring Roisin Conaty, Jason Byrne, PJ Gallagher, Gearoid Farrelly, Dead Cat Bounce, Celia Pacquola, Karl Spain and a host of other acts. The 'late late' Festival Club in Hearn's Hotel will host the after-show parties with sounds by Gain Glass.

Let the hair down at hit musical show

The musical comedy, Hairspray, is coming to the Grand Canal Theatre, Dublin, from November 16 to 27, starring Michael Ball in the role of his life as Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair.

Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees will star alongside Ball as Wilbur Turnblad. The I'm a Believer and Daydream Believer singer will be reprising the role of the loveable joke-shop owner after a successful run in London's West End in this 1960's feel-good show.

Final call for 'Dragons' Den' applicants

RTE has announced the closing date for applications for the next series of Dragons' Den is November 28. So get your entries in now.

Great choice in cars at motor show

Drogheda & District Chamber would like to remind everyone that the first-ever Drogheda Motor Show takes place today in the Drogheda Retail Park, Co Louth.

The event will showcase the 2011 new car range from all 12 local franchise motor dealerships, comprising 18 marques. It is the first of its kind in Ireland and aims to improve the new car-buying experience by using one location to offer greater choice to customers and ease of access to a large range of cars. It is open from 12-5pm.

McAreavey suspect accuses police
