Hundreds beat a path to Kerry for bodhran competition
Monday April 27 2009
THE real beat on the street will be heard this summer in a small town in Kerry.
Bodhran players and enthusiasts will descend on Milltown over the June bank holiday weekend for the only festival of its kind in the world -- the World Bodhran Championships.
More than 100 bodhran players from across the globe are expected to beat a path to the festival, which will run from May 29 to June 1.
Ceann Comhairle John O' Donoghue was on hand to get the festival underway -- the fourth since the inaugural event in 2006.
Entries have already been received from Germany, France, the UK and the US.
