The former managing director of NCB Stockbrokers, Padraic O'Connor was an official in the Department of Finance and held a number of executive roles in IBI Treasury and the Irish Central Bank before moving to NCB in 1987. He was appointed managing director of the broker in 1991 and remained at the helm after billionaire Dermot Desmond sold his stake in the company in 1994.
He then joined ACC Bank and in 1999 was appointed non-executive chairman of the financial institution.
In March 2004, Mr O'Connor was appointed to the board of Eircom and was also a director of the Irish Stock Exchange at one point.
Mr O'Connor was appointed chairman of the Irish Stock Exchange in May of this year and is also a director of a number of companies.
He has a BA Hons in economics and politics and an MA in economics from University College, Dublin.
