Gardai in new bid to solve mystery of skull found at sea
Wednesday December 09 2009
INFORMATION is being sought on a human skull caught in a fishing trawler's net four years ago.
The Dublin County Coroner's office issued pictures of a reconstructed human head in January 2008 in an effort to positively identify a man whose skull was recovered at sea by the skipper of a fishing vessel on the morning of February 6 2006.
The skull was netted off Lambay Island. It had been in the water for up to two years. So far, however, the identity of the man, who is of Caucasian origin and aged between 25 and 45, remains a mystery to gardai, despite the circulation of the photographs through Interpol.
The soft tissue and muscle reconstruction of the man's head was carried out by expert Dr Caroline Wilkinson of the University of Dundee, Scotland.
Anyone with information should contact Balbriggan garda station on 01-8412202.
