Fundraiser to produce bank records
Former chief fundraiser for Fianna Fail Des Richardson now has to produce further bank records to the Mahon Tribunal, writes Lorna Reid.
Yesterday, tribunal chairman Judge Alan Mahon ruled that the planning probe wants access to all Mr Richardson's bank accounts from 1992 to 1996.
Judge Mahon said that if significant payments were made by or on behalf of Owen O'Callaghan to or on behalf of Bertie Ahern, it did not necessarily follow that such payments were not made indirectly through one or more individuals or companies.
The only way the tribunal could comprehensively inquire into Tom Gilmartin's claim that he had been told by Owen O'Callaghan that IR£80,000 was paid to Mr Ahern was to examine various bank accounts.
