Four years for robbery of disabled woman (86)
The victim, who asked that her name be withheld, was woken by masked raiders and threatened with shooting if she did not hand over money. Limerick Circuit Court heard yesterday she was traumatised in the attack. Her mobility and vision had declined since.
Timothy Tobin (21), Hogan Avenue, Kileely, pleaded guilty in September to burglary and robbery at the woman's Limerick home on July 15 last.
The raiders stole ?515 from the woman's purse, but Tobin was cut by glass as he climbed out a window and later called an ambulance, alleging he was the victim of a stabbing incident on the Treaty Bridge. He was later arrested.Judge Carroll Moran imposed a seven-year term, suspending three years.
