FitzPatrick dines out in Spanish resort
Saturday February 21 2009
THE man at the centre of one of the State's biggest banking controversies was last night living it up with friends in the south of Spain, writes Shane Hickey.
Far from the storm that greeted the publication of two reports about Anglo Irish Bank yesterday, the disgraced former chairman Sean FitzPatrick, left, spent the evening in the Las Brisas restaurant in a Marbella golf club.
There with a group of friends, he was wearing a distinctive blue and white striped sports jacket, which garnered attention from the other diners.
One person said that he was in "great form".
Earlier he greeted the well-known fish retailer Michael Wright and his wife, Bernie.
This week, Mr Fitzpatrick was accused of "thumbing his nose" at an Oireachtas committee after snubbing a hearing into his €87m of loans from Anglo Irish Bank.
