Eircom price rises ring changes
Friday June 15 2007
EIRCOM will ring the changes for over one million customers from the end of next month when subscribers will see their telephone bills rise by almost 4pc.
From July 30 next the average domestic phone bill will rise by 3.6pc, while the monthly line rental is set to increase by almost 5pc or €1.18.
All local and national calls as well as the 11811 directory service will also rise by 4.9pc.
The good news for hard-pressed subscribers, however, is that the cost of broadband and international calls is to remain the same.
The various eircom talktime packages will go up between 2.5pc and 3.8pc.
Eircom said that the line rental price increase was the first for three years and that it needed the hike to face the challenge of increased business costs.
Rex Comb, CEO of eircom said: "As with any other utility operating in the Irish market, we continue to face the same challenges of increased business costs, higher wages, and the need to continuously invest in our network."
